Customers come into an IPP Payment Center with their bills and cash to pay them. Customers can either use a self-serve kiosk and enter their transactions themselves, or rely on a staff member to mange the transaction for them.
The customer or the staff member enters the bill payment transaction information into the IPP device. The kiosk or staff person collects the amount of money to be paid as well as a small convenience fee and gives the customer a computer-generated receipt.
As soon as payment is made, the payment records are transferred in real-time from each IPP Payment Center to IPP's central data center and the payments are delivered electronically to billers throughout the day.
IPP tracks each payment; provides bi-lingual customer service to retailers at IPP Payment Centers via a toll-free number; resolves any disputed transactions; and posts most customer payments within one to two days. Real-time and near-time payments are posted virtually immediately for many billers who have already authorized these transactions.
